You can stream your adventures and brag to your friends.

At first, you had to sign up and hope for a beta key. But fans spoke up, and Funcom listened. On May 9, 2025, just hours after kicking off the beta, they dropped a huge update: anyone who pre-orders Dune: Awakening can jump in! They shared the news on social media, making it super easy for more players to join the desert party.

After you pre-order, restart Steam, and the beta should pop up in your library. Plus, pre-ordering gets you cool extras, like a fancy in-game Terrarium of Muad’Dib, and the fancier editions give you a five-day head start when the game launches. Sweet deal, right?

This beta is a blast, letting you explore Arrakis for about 20 hours. You’ll build bases, craft speedy sandbikes, and face off against the desert’s dangers, like massive sandworms and tricky sandstorms. It’s a sneak peek at the game’s first big story chunk, and it’s packed with action. Funcom’s testing their servers with tons of players, getting ready for the full PC launch on June 10, 2025 (pushed back a bit from May 20).

Hurry, though! To get Dune: Awakening beta access, pre-order by May 12 at 5:59 PM EDT (that’s 3:29 AM IST on May 13). If you’re on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, you’ll have to wait a bit longer for console versions later in 2025. For now, PC players get to rule the sands.
